This workshop, with Rachel Cheer, is all about introducing youngsters to art, and older children to a new way of creating unusual artwork.

Shaving Foam Marbling is a great way to experiment with creating colourful and unique images on paper; the workshop is for all abilities.

Designed especially for parents/ carers and children to enjoy together. Your children must be supervised at all times.

Design, Create & Frame for Kids with Bonni Southey

Trained initially as a fashion designer and illustrator, expressing a love of textiles and a ‘magpie’s eye’ Bonni Southey offers this wonderfully creative workshop for children.

The workshops are fun, relaxed, empowering and bring a meditative quality to the time spent creating the beautiful, finished artworks which result.

During the workshop, children will be:
~learning the design process
~experimenting with a wide variety of materials and text
~exploring colour and texture

They will then create their own framed picture, with Bonni’s guidance and helpful tips.

Father’s Day Canvas with Sarah Moorcroft

Silk Suncatchers for Kids with Sarah Moorcroft

Time: 11am to 2pm

This is a great workshop, with artist Sarah Moorcroft, for children who want to learn how to work with silk.

You can use a set theme, or choose one of your own. There will also be the opportunity to add different embellishments to your suncatcher.

During the workshop you will learn the design process and practical application of silk painting. This technique involves planning your design on paper and then transferring it to your silk, guttering up the design and then allowing it to dry. You will then paint your silk, having learnt which colours work well together and how to apply them.

Arty Science with Donna Lewis

Do you have a budding scientist who likes to experiment?

Here at City Arts we like to explore creativity, in all its forms!

Well, this October Half Term Workshop, with Donna Lewis, will be packed with experiments all related to the theme of Art & Science. The experiments will be full of light, colour and mess!!

Children will be experimenting with fire, foam and lots of other materials – learning about science and the part it plays in art. So, bring along your safety goggles, tie your hair back and no baggy clothes!!

Decopatch Workshop with Helen Mortimer

This workshop, with artist Helen Mortimer, is for Adults, Teens and Children 8yrs+ with  parents/ carers.

During this workshop, you will have the opportunity to design and decopatch an item of your choice; a selection will be available on the day.

There will be different, larger decopatch items for sale on the day, if you wish to do more.

This is a fun and creative way to spend time with your friends, family & kids.

Watercolour Courses

Art Course for Kids with Sarah Moorcroft


Tuesdays: 11, 18, 25 September & 2, 9 October, 4.30pm – 6pm

We’re very excited to introduce, our first Art Course for Kids with Sarah Moorcroft – taking place after school, over 5 weeks during term-time.

Our beginner’s classes are suitable for children with an interest in all forms of art.

These classes provide the opportunity for students to discover their artistic talent, indulge in their passion for art and explore their creative side.

Students will be taught a variety of techniques, including painting & drawing – using various mediums, from pencil and pastels, to watercolours and mixed media.

At City Arts, we keep our classes small and this allows our students to receive 1:1 guidance and support – tailored to their needs and focused on their progress.

Age: 8+, 10+ (unsupervised)

Colour Drawing & Painting 5wk Course with Isabel Carmona


Mondays: 1, 8, 15, 29 October & 5 November, 10am – 12.30pm

In each session we will explore one medium of drawing and painting in earnest: biro, colour pencils, watercolours, watercolour pencils, felt tip pens.

We will learn about observation, colour mixing and layering. A fun practical workshop for those who want to try various drawing
techniques and do more.

You will receive a sketchbook to collect your drawings and other
materials needed for the class.
