City Arts Poetry Gathering

This is a very informal and friendly gathering for people who enjoy poetry, in all its forms.

There isn’t a strict format to the event – participants may share their own poetry, the work of another poet, or simply listen to the readings.

100 Canvases: a City Arts Fundraiser

Happy 2017!

Welcome to our very exciting fundraising year. We begin our fundraising with an exciting project: 100 Canvases… a community event for all ages.

We would like you to helps us paint, exhibit and sale 100 canvases

The 100 Canvases process is as follows:

Painting

  • Come and purchase a 30 x 30cm (12 x 12″) canvas from us for £5, on either Sat 28th or Sun 29th January
  • Create your design using any medium/technique on your own time (don’t sign them on the front!) and,

Donation

  • Deliver and donate your finished artwork to us, on either the Sat 11th or Sun 12th February (or by appointment with Isabel Carmona).

Collection and delivery are both from City Arts Newbury  from 10 am to 2pm

  • Or you can come and do the above with us, in situ on the Tuesday 14th February, at our Canvas Painting Workshop day, for the cost of the canvas (£5).
  • Workshop times are either 10am-12noon or 1pm-3pm

Exhibition

Following the collection of the canvases, we will hold a:
Fundraising  Exhibition Weekend on Sat 18th and Sun 19th February from 10am to 3pm, when  we will display for sale all the canvas you have donated and you can purchase any of the canvas you like.
The exhibition will be “blind” with no names of the artists displayed.
All proceeds of the exhibition will form part of City Arts Building Renovation Funds.

Two days of Horrifying Halloween Activities and Freaky Festive Fun on 27th and 28th October 2016  with Kayleigh Eve

Dust off your brooms, don’t wash your hair and grab your cat to join the spooky, ghastly and devilish volunteers running this event, this October half term!!
This event will take place over 2 days, with 2 sessions per day.

Activities include:

* Petrified Pebble Painting
* Scary Mask Making
* Putrid Pumpkin Carving
* Mummy Wrapping (make sure you bring your mum)
* Haunted Maze
* Spine-Chilling Stories
* Ooozing Donut Bobbing

~ Cost: £6 per child
~ Age: All ages (all children must be supervised)
~ Session Times: 10am – 12pm and 2pm – 4pm
~ Maximum 20 children per session

~ Halloween Treats will be on sale
~ Face Painting by Sunny Faces

Apple Pressing Day – Fundraising Event

On 23rd October, from 10 am to 3pm everything is going to be very “appley”!

This is a Fundraising event for City Arts to help us raise funds for the renovation of the Wesleyan Methodist chapel that we have our base on.

Come and help us create some City Arts apple juice for a day and experience all thing appley!

Bring us your unwanted apples and get a discount token (dependent on weight of apples donated).

Chop and press some apples into juice on the day.

The bulk of the collected apples will be pressed and bottled locally and will be on sale at City Arts for £2.50.

On the day, tea, coffee and apple-based goodies will be on sale…

Weekly Saturday Drawing Class with Sarah Martinez

Starting in September 2016!!

This is a new Saturday drawing class for budding young artists, 9-14yrs, will be run by art teacher Sarah Martinez. Come and experiment with charcoals, pastels and art pencils, and create large scale drawings and intricate details.

During the course, students will explore the formal elements of drawing – line, form, texture and tone.

Ages:9 to 14 years old

Maximum 10 pupils

Cost: £84 for the 7 week course (all materials included)
