Create in Clay: Faces & Masks for Kids with Ursula Waechter

This workshop is a great opportunity for your child to be taught by professional ceramicist Ursula Waechter.
Looking at images of masks and faces for inspiration, your child will plan the design of their mask, with step-by-step instructions and handy tips.
Using red clay and pottery tools, they will find out how to make the features of the face, using just their hands.
The masks will then be fired for you and ready for collection, from City Arts, three weeks after the workshop.

Silk Painting for Adults with Sarah Moorcroft

This is a wonderful opportunity to spend the day learning how to work with silk, under the tuition of artist Sarah Moorcroft.
You can use a floral theme, or choose one of your own.
During the workshop you will learn the design process and practical application of silk painting.
This technique involves planning your design on paper and then transferring it to your silk, guttering up the design and then allowing it to dry.
You will then paint your silk, having learnt which colours work well together and how to apply them.

Brusho Easter Pop-up Cards with Helen Mortimer

This workshop, with Rachel Cheer, is all about introducing youngsters to art, and older children to a new way of creating unusual artwork.
Shaving Foam Marbling is a great way to experiment with creating colourful and unique images on paper; the workshop is for all abilities.

Create in Clay: Boxes with Ursula Waechter

Ceramic artist Ursula Waechter will introduce you to two hand-building techniques in clay.
You will have the opportunity to design and create two small boxes, which can be used for jewellery or other precious items.
Once you have designed your boxes, they can then be decorated by using small tools to impress or burnish the clay surface, and then painted with different coloured slips.
Work will be ready for collection from City Arts three weeks after the workshop.

Wire Figures with Jane Cannon

During the workshop, we will be using different types of wire, from mild steel to copper, in varied thicknesses.
Jane will bring along ribbons, pieces of fabric and various materials, to enhance your wire figure.Feel free to bring your own special pieces of material.Jane will show you how I make the basic shape or outline of your figure, using wire cutters and pliers where necessary, and then the rest is up to you – let your imagination run wild.Age: Adults
