On 23rd October, from 10 am to 3pm everything is going to be very “appley”!
This is a Fundraising event for City Arts to help us raise funds for the renovation of the Wesleyan Methodist chapel that we have our base on.
Come and help us create some City Arts apple juice for a day and experience all thing appley!
Bring us your unwanted apples and get a discount token (dependent on weight of apples donated).
Chop and press some apples into juice on the day.
The bulk of the collected apples will be pressed and bottled locally and will be on sale at City Arts for £2.50.
On the day, tea, coffee and apple-based goodies will be on sale…

Do you have a budding scientist who likes to experiment?
Here at City Arts we like to explore creativity, in all its forms!
Well, this October Half Term Workshop, with Donna Lewis, will be packed with experiments all related to the theme of Art & Science. The experiments will be full of light, colour and mess!!
Children will be experimenting with fire, foam and lots of other materials – learning about science and the part it plays in art. So, bring along your safety goggles, tie your hair back and no baggy clothes!!

We invite you to join us on 21st and 22nd of November and 28th and 29th November from 11am to 3pm we will welcome over 20 local artists and local craft people who will come together at our Christmas Fairs at City Arts Newbury offering their work for sale.
The stalls will vary over the two weekends so it is worth visiting at least twice!
Artists include Open Studios ceramicists Martin Eastabrook and Sally Bettridge, photographer Deborah Taylor, painters Liz Milburn, Kate Steele, Amanda Bates, Susan Hubbard and Isabel Carmona, textile artists Sue Crook and Wendy Lloyd, silk painters Helen Mortimer and Sarah Moorcroft, wood turner Jim Crockat and glass artist Tigi Hignell. Photographers Donna Lewis and Rachel Cheer will also have stalls.
Other artists participating this year are Brenda Harding who presents silver/lampwork jewellery, Carol Hansen with her felting work, Tanya Patey with heranimal paintings and Antonia McGall with her upcycled furniture and other table decorations.
Local residents Pat Lawlor, Colleen Walker and Doriana Hignell are participating with Christmas gifts and preserves.
The Dorothy Aromando Art Fund will have a stall on Saturday 28th November.
There will also be refreshments available – tea/coffee and homemade soup and bread.

The Camera’s Eye with Deborah Taylor
Monday 21st and Tuesday 22nd September
10 to 3pm on Mon and 10 to 1 pm on Tues
Learn to see things with a different perspective. Find letters of the alphabet within everyday objects. Explore creative photography whilst we walk in Newbury . Discuss and analyse the results together once we print them
This workshop is for adults (18+)
Cost for two days £30
Bring your own camera and tripod or your smartphone, cables to connect to computer and a USB memory stick.

Workshop 2 Flower Power with Bernie Jones
Thursday 30th July – 10 to 12:30
Learn to make at least 3 different types of fabric flowers using felt, organza and cotton print fabric. Die cutting, heat gun distressing and stitching will be employed to create flowers that can be worn in hair, on clothes or used to accessorize bags/soft furnishings.
This workshop is for adult plus child (8+)
Children must be able to hand sew simple running stitch.
Cost per adult £10, child £5

Come and take part in something unique! We have organised CHALKFEST – a pavement chalk drawing competition taking place in Newbury’s Market Place on the 12th July 2015.
It is Free to Enter and open to people of all ages. All materials to use on the day will be supplied by City Arts; so all you need to do is turn up, pick a spot and create a unique chalk drawing on the market square paving.
The competition prize is sponsored by Craftsman Newbury Ltd
