City Arts Presents: Day of the Dead 2018
Saturday 27th & Sunday 28th October, 10am – 4pm
Join us for a sensational Dia de los Muertos weekend, celebrating the traditions of this fascinating and beautiful Mexican festival. Feel free to dress up in traditional Dia de los Muertos costume!
There will be traditional food and music, kid’s activities and storytelling. We will have a cafe area, where people can relax and enjoy our gorgeous, homemade Chilli (meat & veggie) and traditional Bolilla rolls – all in aid of our Fundraising Renovation Project.
On Saturday and Sunday, City Arts will unveil their incredible Day of the Dead set, hand built by children & teens, attending the Set Design & Construction Course with Donna Lewis to Book your child’s place, click the link.

**Day of the Dead Storytelling Session**
Book your Storytelling Session in the ‘Afterlife’. Travel to ‘the other side’ and explore our hand-built set, whilst becoming immersed in the beautiful stories and traditions of old Mexico.
Age: 6+ Teens. Adults (6+ is recommended age)

City Arts Presents: Applefest 2018

Applefest is returning for its 3rd year, and we want to continue to celebrate this very apple-y community surrounding us.

All Ages Welcome
Bring your unwanted apples down to City Arts, and we’ll convert them into 100% pure, City Arts Apple Juice – which is then sold, throughout the year, as part of our Fundraising Project.
This years Applefest sees a number of activities taking place through the day including:

We also have our Snug Area with our Fundraising Refreshments, all in aid of the City Arts Renovation Project
**Glass Fusing Drop-in Session with Nicky Clarke**

Come and make a fused glass tile with Nicky Clarke. Design your clear glass tile using copper wire detail, and coloured with different sized glass frits. Once made, the tiles will need to be kiln-fired, and returned to City Arts for collection within two weeks.

City Arts Presents: Chalkfest 2018

Join us for our fantastic, free community event for all ages and abilities – in Newbury Market Square!
Chalkfest brings the whole community together, last year we had over 1000 people join us, creating individual and group chalk drawings.
An amazing day, filled with excitement, creativity and very chalky hands!

Community Day: Create a Mixed Media Wall Hanging
Friday 3rd August, 10am – 4pm
This is a fundraising, community event for the whole family to do together – no matter your age or ability, just join in!
Each attendee will be given one square of fabric to design and decorate any way you wish – you can stitch, paint, stamp, embellish, score, print, glue, staple and colour!
As we go through the day, each square will be joined together, to make a huge wall hanging for City Arts!
We’ll be using a variety of materials and equipment, so make sure you Dress For Mess!
Bring the whole family along for a great day at City Arts – join in the creativity and then relax in our snug-area with some refreshments and browse our Plant Sale – all in aid of our *CITY ARTS RENOVATION PROJECT*
Age: Universal – all welcome, from Toddlers to Adults (supervised)
Cost: £1 per person (all proceeds go to our Charity Renovation Project)

City Arts is joining Ace Space, at Shaw House, for a day of music, art, food and ale – come and join us!
We’ll have our gazebo there, with lots of goodies for sale, including: Handmade Artist’s Books, City Arts merchandise, Homemade Apple Juice from our apple trees and lots more…
We will also be running a couple of fundraising activities, for all ages and abilities – sounds like it’s going to be a great day for all the family!

A one day festival with invited performers from Unplugged at ACE Space plus Chris Jagger & The Kronies headlining. Held in the beautiful House and grounds at Shaw House. With music, storytelling, comedy, arts and crafts, local food and drink.

City Arts invites you to create a community ‘Portrait of Newbury’
This event is for everyone – all ages & all abilities
Come and draw people, each other, your family and friends – using a variety of mediums, with a broad range of surfaces:
Continuous paper
Canvas
Cardboard
Pens, pencils, coloured pencils and crayons will be provided.
We will also be creating ‘Graffiti Portraits’ with pens on canvas!!!
Tables will be laid out across the Market Square, with a giant roll of paper across it.

Mandala Day is a celebration of the Buddhist and Hindu spiritual symbol for the universe.
This is a community-led event for all the family, using a mixture of mandala designs. We will be planning, designing and then painting part of the floor and wall at City Arts.
So, bring the family along for a great day at City Arts – designing and creating a beautiful mandala.
