In this workshop you’ll make a figure out of clay. You’ll take on the challenges posed by proportion and balance.

You’ll add features such as buttons and fingernails (without squashing all your other hard work). You’ll explore ways of creating an expressive face.

And, if you have time after all that, you’ll be able to add colour too.

Pieces will be taken away for firing and can be collected from City Arts Newbury at a later date.

What will you create, a simple tree design, or an under water scene with fish and seaweed? Images for inspiration are available on the day but the choice is yours.

Once you have your design ready, you can create it using the glass frits and metals which will be glued in place, onto the glass, ready for firing.

Pieces will be taken away for firing and returned to city arts within two weeks for you to collect.

This is a fun, hands-on session, where you and your child will have the opportunity to explore interesting tools and materials, including clay and plaster.

We will explore taking impressions with wooden stamps, plants, leaves, found objects and even our hands.

The impressions will be turned into beautiful tiles for you to take home on the day.

Be prepared to get messy and have fun!
