Brusho Easter Pop-up Cards with Helen Mortimer

This unique workshop is a fun way to learn about the Brusho painting technique and how to create two good quality Pop-up Cards, which you can then recreate at home, for all occasions.

Perfect as a family activity, with friends or as an individual – everyone welcome!

You will also have the opportunity to make tags & bookmarks with your remaining brusho paper.

Enjoy spritzing watercolour powders onto your Easter egg designs, to create an imaginative, unique gift for family and friends this Easter.

This workshop, with Rachel Cheer, is all about introducing youngsters to art, and older children to a new way of creating unusual artwork.

Shaving Foam Marbling is a great way to experiment with creating colourful and unique images on paper; the workshop is for all abilities.

Designed especially for parents/ carers and children to enjoy together. Your children must be supervised at all times.

Easter Flower Baskets with Kim Harrison

Come along and join in the Family Fun on Good Friday 14th April 2017, with Florist Kim Harrison of ‘Lavenders’

Create your own Easter Flower Basket for your home, or maybe a special Easter gift.

Each group will design and make a basket, using beautiful, seasonal flowers from Holland.

*Each group will have their own work station:
~ After a brief introduction from me, we will start by fixing the oasis to the basket
~ Then we will start to green-up, by adding foliage to create the outline of your design
~ Everyone will then begin to add seasonal flowers
~ There will also be ribbons and decorations available

Create in Clay: Boxes with Ursula Waechter

Ceramic artist Ursula Waechter will introduce you to two hand-building techniques in clay.

You will have the opportunity to design and create two small boxes, which can be used for jewellery or other precious items.
Once you have designed your boxes, they can then be decorated by using small tools to impress or burnish the clay surface, and then painted with different coloured slips.

Work will be ready for collection from City Arts three weeks after the workshop.

Steam-Fix Silk Painting with Helen Mortimer

Learn the art of silk painting, using the steam-fixing method, with artist Helen Mortimer …
During the workshop, you will be using the technique of steam-fixing with silk dyes – giving your finished painting vibrant colours.

As well as stretching silk onto a frame, you will also learn how to use dyes & salt on your fabric.

You will then have the opportunity to create an initial piece, using a floral theme, or one of your own ideas.

Finally, you will design a landscape of your choice, ready to be steam-fixed.
