Oil Painting Weekend with Kevin Skully

Saturday 31st September & Sunday 1st October, 10am – 4pm

Oil Painting 3

Come and join this superb weekend of oil painting with artist, Kevin Skully.

We will be use Alkyd Oil Paint, similar to traditional oil paint, but fast-drying.

The workshop will focus on landscape painting and examine the different techniques used in oils.

All materials and equipment will be provided, including reference images, but you are welcome to bring along any photographs that you would like to work from.

A workshop for painters of all levels of experience.

Foam Marbling with Rachel Cheer

One of our most popular workshops, with artist Rachel Cheer.

Shaving Foam Marbling is a great way to experiment with creating colourful and unique images on paper.

The workshop is all about introducing youngsters to art, and older children to a new way of creating unusual artwork.

This workshop is for all abilities. Designed especially for parents/ carers and children to enjoy together.

Felt Soaps with Wendy Lloyd

A fabulous workshop with textiles’ artist, Wendy lloyd.

A fun introduction to the magic of feltmaking that turns fluffy sheep’s wool ‘tops’ into fabric.

The decorative felted soaps with their builtin ‘mits’ make novel gifts and stocking fillers.

You will go home with 3 felted soaps at the end of the session and some fun, unique ideas for gift presentation.

We want to celebrate this very apple-y community surrounding us.

Bring your unwanted apples to City Arts for us to convert into healthy 100% pure City Arts apple juice to sell throughout the year.

Your apple donation helps us raise funds for our building renovation and low cost community activities.

!We want to beat the 200kg from last year!

Did you know: apparently 80% of apples, from domestic apple trees, lie unused or go to waste?

Dates are as follows:
• 15 Oct – drop off and try your hand at making your very own juice or sample some apple-y delights with a tea or coffee.

• 22 Oct. – drop off only 10 am to 1pm

• 24 and 25 Oct – Join in and help us make our community Apple Tree Collage event (£1) and just have some family fun.

Seasonal Print & Stitch Cards & Decorations with Karen Carter

A fun and experimental workshop with professional printer, Karen Carter.

Discover the wonderful world of printing on fabric, paper and card using lino, and high density foam.

We will be working with paper, calico, beads, buttons and dimensional paints to produce prints suitable for cards, decorations and fabric things!

No experience needed.

Garden Insects, Fairies & Pixies in Wire with Flora Gare

Friday 20th October, 10am – 2pm

Collage

Take inspiration from the bees, butterflies and insects living in your garden to create your own wire sculpture.

You will use coloured copper wire to build up a frame, and then have fun decorating with wire mesh and beads. There are so many different insects to choose from!

Bring images for inspiration. Bring a small pair of pliers if you have them.

Poetry Gathering at City Arts

This is a very informal and friendly gathering for people who enjoy poetry, in all its forms.

There isn’t a strict format to the event – participants may share their own poetry, the work of another poet, or simply listen to the readings.

Celebrate Halloween at City Arts with this brilliant wreath-making workshop, with Kim Harrison.

Make a 12” rattan wreath with silk leaves, flowers, ribbons and for the more gruesome of you – bugs, googly eyes, skulls etc.

The theme of your wreath can be anything you want it to be… from Sugar Skulls to Nightmare Before Xmas, or try your hand at a traditional autumn wreath – let your imagination run wild!

Why not dress up in a Halloween costume for the workshop, you’ll also receive a treat!

Decorate your choice of Halloween themed bisque night-light holders including pumpkins, spiders, spooky trees and skulls!

We will use Decoart Americana acrylics including metallics, glitters and glo-in-the-dark paints.

There will also be some Halloween themed Decopatch papers available, if you would prefer to Decopatch or combine the two on
your item.

Join in and help us make our Community Apple Tree Collage Days a great family event for all ages and abilities!

We want to celebrate this very apple-y community surrounding us.

This event is to help us raise funds for our Charity Renovation Project and low-cost community activities.

The activities are centred around our 3D tree – you will be making apples to add to the tree, using lots of different materials – including felt, buttons, wood, pine cones, card, paint and string!!
