City Arts and the Kennet Centre, Newbury have teamed up for an amazing experience!

**Mural Painting Day For Teens**

 Location: Kennet Centre, Newbury (near Vue Cinema)
Date & Time: Sunday 29th July 2018, 10am – 4pm 
Age: 13 – 19yrs 
Cost: £5 per teen (unsupervised) 

Along with local artists and the winner of the competition, all teens are invited to join in the creation of this giant, wall mural!

**Painting Your Mural**
Working with local artists and teens from the community, the winner will paint their mural design on Sunday 29th July (see website for more details)
**Rules of the Competition**
~ Submit your colour, hand-drawn design to City Arts Newbury
~ No offensive language or material can be included in the design
~ You must be within the age group stated

Sketch & Paint in Newbury with Isabel Carmona

Thursday Evenings: 5, 12, 26 July & 2 August, 6.30pm – 8.30pm

Explore various ways of capturing the atmosphere of a place. 

We will meet at City Arts each evening and set off to visit various locations to sketch and paint outdoors (for example West Mills allotments, St Nicholas Church, Newtown Road Cemetery, and the Kennet and Avon canal). 

Try out watercolours, pen and ink and mixed media techniques. 

You will receive a sketchbook to collect your drawings.

Cost: £100 (£30 per session)
Age: Adults

Note from Artist:
You will need to bring a stool/chair to sit on when sketching outside. Bring your own pens and paints for this workshops.

Manga Drawing: Intermediate 5wk Course with Donna Lewis

Friday Evenings: 6, 13, 20, 27 July & 3 August, 6pm – 8pm

 

This 5 week, evening intermediate course, is for children/ teens with some experience of drawing. Children who have attended the ‘Intro to Manga Course’ may apply.
We will cover Manga drawing, techniques and specialist equipment.

During the course, we will focus on the body, proportion, clothing and styles, props and settings. In the final week, we will study and create manga storyboard artwork – giving you the opportunity to produce your own narrative.

There will be lots of step-by-step instructions, to aid in the design and creation your of characters – with helpful tips along the way.
Age: 10+ (children who have studies the Intro to Manga Course may apply)
Cost: £100 (including drawing kit)
£20 per session (if you can’t attend the full course)

Childrens will be exploring clay, using the activity to communicate and experiment with textures, stamps, hand impressions and simple tools.
 
We will also take a cast of the work your toddler has created, so you can take a memory of the experience home.

Botanical Plaque for Adults with Clare Mahoney

This workshop is now Sold Out

 

The workshop begins with a walk through some beautiful parts of the old City of Newbury where we collect plants, flowers and leaves. 

Back at the art centre we make a plaster and Cornish stone cast of the personalised clay mould we have created with fauna collected that day. 

The cast dries quickly and can be taken away at the end of the workshop.

End of Year – Teacher’s Gift with Adriana Roberts

Choose from 3 papercut shapes (apple, pencil and book) to be cut out, adorned with the teacher’s name on it and perfectly framed, ready to be gifted. 

This workshop will teach useful papercutting techniques, precision, concentration and help develop their fine motor skills. 

Let them escape into a little world of paper and possibilities! All materials provided including the frame.
