Silk Suncatchers for Kids with Sarah Moorcroft

Posted on Updated on

Collage 2

Monday 31 July 2017

Time: 11am to 2pm

This is a great workshop, with artist Sarah Moorcroft, for children who want to learn how to work with silk.

You can use a set theme, or choose one of your own. There will also be the opportunity to add different embellishments to your suncatcher.

During the workshop you will learn the design process and practical application of silk painting. This technique involves planning your design on paper and then transferring it to your silk, guttering up the design and then allowing it to dry. You will then paint your silk, having learnt which colours work well together and how to apply them.

Age: 10+
Cost: £12 (including all materials)

This workshop is for kids 10+, it is also a unique opportunity for them to learn how to work with a small hammer and nails – such a brilliant experience!

Run by artist, Sarah Moorcroft, your child will recieve step-by-step instructions on drawing up their design on paper, then transfering it to an A4 piece of wood.

They will then use a small hammer and nails to create the outline of their design.

Coloured thread is then used to highlight and define the design – different coloured thread can be used to accent a particular area i.e. the centre of a flower or the face of an animal.
